Flight Centre, Australia’s largest and most recognised travel agency, is a business that is going through a business transformation as travel moves increasingly into the digital landscape.

As part of its strategy to transform from a 30-year old travel agent into a world-class retailer of travel, Flight Centre was looking to create a mobile app that would provide an easy to use flight booking service for its customers looking to secure travel deals from wherever they are.


Critical to the success of the app was the speed and ease of the experience of searching for a flight and booking it. To ensure pain points were eliminated and that the user felt supported throughout the finding and booking experience, Transpire enabled pre-populated lists of popular domestic airports and destinations. Design conventions were also applied to support new users in their discovery of the app, making it feel familiar to them and enhance the user experience overall.

Flight Centre wanted the app to provide insights into the travel opportunities a customer could book. Flight Centre’s ‘Latest Deals’ displayed the most up-to-date deals in just two clicks from the home screen, to inspire users to travel and provide a strong linkage to their existing digital channels and expert travel agents.


The Flight Centre app isn’t just a fast way to find flights and fantastic travel deals; it showcases the enormity of the Flight Centre value in the age of online travel agents and positions the business as a world class retailer of travel.
